Inter Milan are not wasting any time in their pursuit of Athletico Paranaense keeper Bento as interest from the Premier League looms.

This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews.

24-year-old Brazilian international Bento looks to be one of Inter’s priority targets this summer.

The Nerazzurri have decided that they will use this transfer window as an opportunity to sort out the goalkeeping position for the long term.

Last summer, Inter sold Andre Onana – who they had expected to be their Number One for years to come – to Manchester United for a massive transfer fee.

Replacing the Cameroonian was Yann Sommer.

And there is no doubt that Sommer has done a solid job of replacing Onana. But the Swiss international is 35 years old – he is hardly likely to be the starting keeper in the long term.

Inter Not Waiting Around In Bento Pursuit As Premier League Interest Looms

Therefore, Inter’s plan is to sign a younger keeper this summer.

The idea would be to have a player who can initially be the backup to Sommer. The veteran former Bayern Munich and Borussia Monchengladbach man would remain the starter.

Then, after learning from Sommer for a season or two, that player would take over as the first-choice keeper.

And Inter have a clear target in mind for that role. They want Paranaense keeper Bento.

At 24 years of age, Bento is certainly the right age to be the Number One for years to come.

And Inter believe that the quality is certainly there from the Brazilian.

The Nerazzurri had already targeted Bento last summer. And he has made further growth in the past twelve months – including becoming a full Brazilian international.

That means that there is plenty of interest in the goalkeeper’s signature.

And Inter are particularly wary of the fact that clubs from the Premier League want to sign the 24-year-old.

Therefore, the Nerazzurri will make their move soon, reports Tuttosport.

Confirmation of a new loan from PIMCO to Inter owners Suning will provide certainty regarding the club’s future off the pitch. And that will be a signal for the club to begin their summer transfer plans.

The first order of business, Tuttosport anticipate, will be signing Bento.

The newspaper report that Inter have no doubt they can finance a €20 million offer for the Brazilian with a few smaller sales.
